The SMS Server Locator Point service has stopped. If the Server Locator Point service is not running, clients cannot locate an initial local management point. This condition does not repair itself and must be resolved before Configuration Manager can resume some of its core functions.
This condition typically occurs when:
The server locator point is shut down or is restarted.
Configuration Manager is being upgraded with Configuration Manager hotfixes or Configuration Manager service packs.
The server locator point is backed up.
The server locator point service is manually shut down.
This condition can be corrected by:
Waiting for the Configuration Manager Site Component Manager service to restart the service. This can take up to one hour.
Restarting the Configuration Manager Site Component Manager service. This forces the Site Component Manager to immediately check the status of all components.
Performing a site reset to force the Site Component Manager to reinstall all components.
Restarting the computer.
