It will perform a 'gpupdate' operation per the specified configuration interval.

Causes

Possible causes include the following:

There is a misconfigured Group Policy object.

There is a problem with SYSVOL.

Resolutions

Ensure that the domain controller is online and functioning correctly.

Check that dcdiag is not returning any problems.
